Situated in the southwest of France, Aveyron is a large green department of the new Occitania region, a highly touristic region three hours from the Mediterranean and at the gates of Spain the ideal place to make Aveyron tourism. Here, green tourism, rural tourism and cultural tourism blend harmoniously.

French people and tourists from all over the world come every year to admire the unique heritage of these regions with their rich historical past. The Midi-Pyrénées region in the Gorges du Tarn has several of the most beautiful villages in France such as Geniez d’Olt, Roquefort, Saint Cirq Lapopie or Saint Côme. The Aveyron has several dozens of historical sites and monuments to visit absolutely during your camping stay in Aveyron.

Here is a non-exhaustive list: the castle of Najac, the dolmens of Martiel, Sévérac-le-château, the cathedral of Rodez, the Templar site of La Couvertoirade and the stones of Montpellier-le-Vieux which you will reach while passing by the Viaduct of Millau, the lakes of Lévézou and many villages among the most beautiful of France, Belcastel or Conques, to name only them.

Aveyron gastronomy

The Aveyron is also famous for its good local products and its typical Rouergate gastronomy, enriched by that of the nearby Quercy. At home, eating well is living well!

Come and discover the local producers on the numerous markets which take place all year round in the towns and villages of the department and also in the summer, on the night markets.

Only 4 kilometers from the campsite, in the village of Villeneuve d’Aveyron, you can attend the cattle market every first, third and fifth Monday of the month, in the morning; a few thousand veal calves are sold there.

Every Tuesday the 2nd livestock market of France takes place in Laissac, about an hour and a half from the campsite, with market and tasting of traditional products, fouace, spit cake, farçous, tripous….
